The 2007 Lincoln Days festival was perhaps the public kick-off of the Lincoln Bicentennial madness, if not nationally, at least for LaRue County. State television covered the festival extensively (the “Abraham Lincoln” reporter being arrested for the fundraising jail). In one of the largets parades, almost 2,500 people traveled the one-mile route, including then-Governor Ernie Fletcher.
